“What God Created In The Beginning, But What About Today?”       

Genesis 1:1-

The First 3 Words In The Bible Are, “In The Beginning”  When Was It? How Long Ago? We Don’t Really Know As Years May Go, But It Was Before Anything Existed Except God That Is. Our Statement Of Faith Simply Says, “We Believe In One Eternally Existent God, Sovereign Of The Universe---“

Today Being January 2011, We Are In The New Beginning Of A Brand New Year. What Can We Glean From That First Beginning – “In The Beginning”?.

Genesis 1:1 Reads, In The Beginning God Created The Heavens And The Earth.

God Was A Creating God. Verse 3 Tells Us,  ”G O D    S A I D.” Merely By God Speaking, It Happened. Ps 33:6 Says, By The Word Of The Lord Were The Heavens Made, Their Starry Host By The Breath Of His Mouth. Ps 33:7 He Gathers The Waters Of The Sea Into Jars; He Puts The Deep Into Storehouses.

Ps 33:8 Let All The Earth Fear The Lord? Let All The People Of The World Revere Him. Ps 33:9 For He Spoke, And It Came To Be; He Commanded, And It Stood Firm.

In Heb 11:3 We Also Read, “By Faith We Understand That The Universe Was Formed At God’s Command, So That What Is Seen Was Not Made Out Of What Was Visible.”

When The Scripture Says, “God Created” It Can Mean To Create From Nothing As Well As Reforming Existing Materials.

On Day 1 God Said, “Let There Be Light” And There Was Light. He Also Said,  “It Is Good.” On Day 2 God Said, “Let There Be An Expanse” - Sky – Air. Again He Said, “It Is Good.”    Day 3 God Said, “Let There Be Dry Land And Seas - Vegetation And Seeds To Eat & The Sea. God Saw That It Was Good.  On Day 4 God Said,  “Let There Be 2 Great Lights – The Sun, Moon, And Also The Stars. Again, It Was Good.  On Day 5 God Spoke “Let There Be Fish - Sea Creatures - Birds In The Air – Cattle And All Animal Life = It Is Good.  Day 6 “Let There Be Wild Animals - Livestock - And Creatures That Crawl Along The Ground. “It Is Good.”

Following All This, In Genesis 1:26 “God Said, “Let Us Make Man In Our Image, In Our Likeness, And Let Them Rule Over The Fish Of The Sea And The Birds Of The Air, Over The Livestock, Over All The Earth, And Over All The Creatures That Move Along The Ground. So God Created Man In His Own Image, In The Image Of God He Created Him; Male And Female He Created Them. God Saw All That He Had Made, And It Was Very Good.

When God Said It “Was Very Good”, It Meant, Good – Pleasing & Desirable.  This Can Refer To Quality As Well As Moral Goodness.

In Verse 22 We Also Read, “He Blessed” All Animal – Bird & Sea Creature Life. In Verse 28 “He Blessed” The Man And Woman.

“Blessed” Means, “To Praise Or Invoke Divine Favor, To Speak Of The Excellence Of Someone.” We Need To Remember Today That God Still Desires To Bless Us And That His Divine Favor Is Upon Us.

Just Think

A-    God Created Absolutely Everything Abundant For Life To Survive On This Earth - Light For Life To Exist – A Clean Unpolluted Earth – Pure Water – Healthy Wholesome Foods To Eat – Pure Air To Breathe – Absolutely No Contaminants – A Healthy Planet Just Waiting To Be Inhabited.

B-    God Also Created The Man To Live There. He Also Saw That It Was Not Good For Him To Live Alone So He Put The Man Asleep, Took A Rib And Made The Woman Suitable For Him. This Was The First Husband/ Wife, And The First Marriage Performed By The Creator Himself. And It Was Blessed And “Very Good.”

Spiritually, They Were Both Pure And Holy In Heart. There Was No Sin – No Sin Nature – No Impurities – No Evil – No Evil Thoughts – No Guilt Or Infected Conscience.

Wouldn’t It Be Nice To Live In A World Like That? But That’s Not The World We Live In.

Our Physical World Today Is Totally Unclean – There Is Contamination – Pollution – Unclean Air & Water, And The List Goes On.

Also, Instead Of Holiness As Man’s Inner Nature – Because Of Adam And Eve’s Sin Of Rebellion And Selfish Desire – There Is Corruption.

By The Time Of Noah And His Generation Came, It Is Said,

Ge 6:5 The Lord Saw How Great Man’s Wickedness On The Earth Had Become And That Every Inclination Of The Thoughts Of His Heart Was Only Evil All The Time.

Jeremiah Said In His Day,

Jer 17:9 The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things And Beyond Cure. Who Can Understand It?

But Do You Know What? This Was Not God’s Plan In The Beginning, And It Is Not His Plan For Our Future.

As In The Beginning When God Created All Things, In This “Beginning Of A New Year” God Wants To -

A-    Create Good For Your Life.

Absolutely Everything God Provided For Adam And Eve Was For Their Good.

He Still Desires The Same For You And Me.

Without A Doubt, There Are Many Things In Our World Today That Are Not Good, But God Has Promised That He Is Working In All Things For The Good Of Those Who Love Him. Romans 8:28 Reads, Ro 8:28 And We Know That In All Things God Works For The Good Of Those Who Love Him, Who Have Been Called According To His Purpose.

Sad To Say Too That Sometime We Are Our Own Worst Enemy. Take Adam And Eve For Instance. God Had Everything Good Planned For Their Future Life, But They Intentionally Made A Wrong Decision. That Decision Brought Misery Upon Their Own Personal Lives Plus Every Generation Since Has Suffered. That Ought To Make Us Realize That Our Own Wrong Selfish Choices Not Only Affect Our Own Lives, But Possibly Many Others Around Us For Many Years To Come. 

B-    God Also Wants To Bless Your Life. God Blessed The Earth – All Animal Life – And Adam And Eve’s Lives. His Divine Favor Was Upon Them. What More Can One Ask? God Had The Best In Mind For Them, And Today He Has The Best In Mind For You And Me As Well.

Also, God Wants To-        

C-    Restore Any Broken Relationship With You.

In The Garden – In The Beginning God Walked And Talked With That First Family In Perfect Companionship. He Desires That Today. Revelation 3:20 Is An Appropriate Verse And Setting We Need To Look At. It Reads,

Rev 3:20 “Here I Am! I Stand At The Door And Knock. If Anyone Hears My Voice And Opens The Door, I Will Come In And Eat With Him, And He With Me.” To Sit At A Meal With A Friend Makes For A Great Relationship.

The Lord Jesus Christ Sets This Opportunity Before Us. We Have That Privileged Before Us This Year If We Choose To Make It Happen.

Last Of All, He Desires To

D-   Renew Holiness Of Heart.

In Creation God Gave Both Adam And Eve A Perfectly Holy And Pure Heart.

. Because Of Disobedience It Would Become Corrupted And Sinful In Nature.

But God’s Desire Was Still To Have His People Enjoy All The Blessings Of A Pure And Clean Inner Nature.

In Eze 36:26 We Read, “I Will Give You A New Heart And Put A New Spirit In You; I Will Remove From You Your Heart Of Stone And Give You A Heart Of Flesh.”

John Wesley Said, This Holy And Sanctified Heart Is, “Loving God With All The Heart, Soul, And Mind.”

Following His Sin David Prayed Ps 51:2 “Wash Away All My Iniquity And Cleanse Me From My Sin.”

Ps 51:10 “Create In Me A Pure Heart, O God, And Renew A Steadfast Spirit Within Me.”

Today, What About You? Do You Have All That God Desires For You To Have? Is He Free To Create In You All That He Desires? My Prayer Is That You Will Give Him The Freedom To Do All He Chooses In Your Life.

May His Creative Hand Be In You In The Year To Come?
